Survey # 1 ----- For Wives

****Note - I left "Quality Time" off the list - so if this is one of your top three please leave a comment for me to add it to my totals. I apologize to the "Quality Time" ladies out there. Feel free to comment about your needs also********

So here is the deal...

Look to the right side bar ------------>>>

Hal and I are leading a Marriage/Parenting Seminar in South Florida in November. We are putting the finishing touches on our preparations, and I would love to have your input on a few polls. (Probably one a week for the next few weeks)

I know (by looking at my site meter) that there are many who read my blog... so I am asking that you just take a few seconds and answer the poll. You do not have to sign in or leave your name. Easy enough? Just check your answers. I really NEED at least 100 to respond :)

This week is for Wives. What are you needs? What says, "I love You" to you? What do you want from your husband.

If I have not listed yours or if you would like to leave more of a comment, I would LOVE to hear from you. You may also comment anonymously.

Thank you so much for your co-operation. I will share the total results with you.

Sweet Blessings my "bloggy friends"!!!

A Broken Leg

(With a friend who has a Broken Arm)
Is it true that misery loves company?
I don't think they look too miserable.
Much harder on the parents (and grand's) than the children themselves.

This outfit was one of the many gifts she got when she broke the leg.
Certainly it was an Alabama Fan...
(Her Daddy was not very amused :)

But Isn't She Cute?

Some are telling her that this means "TOUCHDOWN!"

...but MommaDee is telling her it means "Thank-You, Jesus!"

This is Dee's Precious!

A precious gift straight from the Heart of God!

"Yes" to God Bible Studies

I am currently leading our Ladies Bible Studies using Lisa TerKeurst's Book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God? We have a Sunday night class, a Wednesday Lunch time class, and a Wednesday Evening Class.

This was part of the vision that God gave me for our Women's Ministry when I went to the SHE SPEAKS conference in June. We had a beautiful banquet to kick off our fall semester with this theme. Then we encouraged ALL of our women to study this book together.

We have approximately 80 of our women studying this together. Imagine the possibilities...

One verse from this week's chapter was, "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit..." John 15:8

Just think... 80 Women bearing much fruit - to the Glory of God. WOW...

What happens when these women say "YES" to God...

Only Heaven Knows....

But I am so excited to be a part of it!

WFW # 6 Raising Sons

Following my last post,
I wanted to share this photo/plaque that my children
gave me for Mother's day.
That is actually a picture of our Soldier/Warrior/Son.
My scriptures for today are posted below.

"Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6

"Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,
bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."
Ephesians 6:4

What a Difference a Year Makes

This has been a reflective week. Anniversaries of events bring memories – and often we even “re-live” those days in our minds and hearts.

Last year on September 21, we had the “Send-off” picnic by the lake at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. On that Sunday, our soldier was on the way to Iraq/Kuwait. (You can read about my thoughts on that day here.)

I knew then that a year was a short time. But when you are facing it – it seems like an eternity. Especially when it is such an UNKNOWN.

And we did miss him tremendously. We tried not to be fearful. We succeeded most of the time. Psalms 91 was our constant prayer. We have no doubt that our Loving Heavenly Father protected our Son, our Soldier, our Warrior.

So, this year, how fitting that on September 21, we are going to a much sweeter event. There is a “Yellow-ribbon” celebration in honor of our guys. And I can just tell you that it is MUCH easier to go to this one.

It is a celebration. It is an awareness of God’s protection.

Thank you Father. We are so blessed.

Peace...

Can I just tell you how much I love my new daughter-in-love. I hope I don’t embarrass her but I just had to share.

I had to go by their home one day last week, to sign some papers. Of course, it is beautiful. She has done a wonderful job of decorating. But, that is not what I came away with. I called Hal on the way home – in tears. “All I can say to describe it – is in one word – PEACE.” There was peace in their home. It is filled with love and peace.

For this mom, and new mother-in-law, I was blessed. What a joy. What a blessing. What an answer to prayer. Many prayers.

Thank you, Brantley. You are a treasure. Jonathan calls you his little puzzle piece – and I agree – You complete him. And it shows. It is evident in your lives together and it is evident in your home. PEACE. Completeness. Unity. Joy.

It truly was a “No Greater Joy” moment.

A "Proverbs-31 Woman"

A Proverbs 31 Woman
(a.k.a. Shopping at Chicos)

I have to share when I do so well. I was functioning in my "Proverbs 31 Woman" role. Here are the verses:

Vs 14 (Message Bible) - She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places and brings back exotic surprises. (that means a good sale)
Vs. 22(b) She is dressed in fine linen and purple. (that means Chicos)

So, here is the list of what I got:

One Blue Jean Jacket (with pretty gold stuff on it) $25.26
One Black Linen Jacket $9.49
One Pair of White Linen Pants $9.49
One Bright Pink Linen Top $9.49
One Bright Blue Linen Top $9.49
One Peachy/Orange Linen Top $9.49
One Black Sleeveless Top (one of those that you wear under everything) $9.49
One very pretty pair of earrings that will go with the pink and peachy tops. $6.64

Total spent: $88.84 (plus tax - $97.28). – Did you get that total? Two jackets, one pair of pants, four tops and a pair of earrings for less than $100.00. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I just love a good sale and I just love me some Chicos.

And I just love fulfilling my role so well.

Blessings,
DeeDee

Vacation

Time Away

A whole Week

Can I say just how wonderful it was?

Hal and I took some much needed time away. We worked on a couple’s retreat that we will be leading in the winter. I worked on my fall classes. Hal worked on some of his stuff. We read lots. We relaxed in the hot tub. We ate out. He took me to the outlet malls. We always wind up at a book store. And you know that I just HAD to go by Chicos. We bought a dozen “HOT NOW” Krispy Kreme Donuts. And ate most of them (not all that night – even though I could have!)

We are rested. We are re-focused. We are energized.

Time away is good.

Getting back home is even better after a time away.

I have lots of ideas/plans for my blogs. I guess that means I am not brain-dead anymore. Rest is good for the brain. I will share more later.

Love and Blessings,
DeeDee
