the New Year

What a way to start the new year...

Not only IN THE WORD - but a new start in MEMORIZING THE WORD.

I have memorized many scriptures in my life time. Some verses, some passages, some chapters and some books. However, I have been very slack in this area of my life lately. I am excited to get back on track. Sometimes all we need is a gentle nudge. A little reminder. An inspired challenge.

That is what is happening at the LPM Blog. There are over 2600 others who are joining in this challenge. If you have not made the decision to join - I want to encourage - remind - challenge you to do so. Two verses a month. WE CAN DO THIS.

I had a verse picked out - to begin my year - until I read Beth's Blog. I decided to go with the one that she shared.

Isaiah 33:6 (ESV)
"and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is Zion’s treasure."

Now, read this again in the Amplified version - "And there shall be stability in your times, an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and His."

In our days of unstability - how comforting to be reminded that He is our stability. And then, oh may the REVERENT fear and worship of our Lord be our TREASURE. And then think about that last part of the Amplified verse. Our reverent fear and worship of the Lord is HIS TREASURE.

That is the start of my new year.

And for another reminder - The daily Bible reading is posted on the side-bar. I began this morning in Psalm 1 and 2. I hope you are joining me there too. READING AND MEMORIZING.

I also chose Beth's verse to memorize.
I am excited about the scripture memory and bible reading. I sooo need this along with the accountability.
Thanks for the prayers and reminder of Romans 13!
I am looking forward to Going Deeper in 2009 and making this a Jesus-Year!

Oh Dee Dee, I LOVE this! I so need to join and do this. I am praying for my annual "word" that God wants to be my focus word this year...and I know He reveals it often by the words we hide in our hearts.

Thank you for the nudge.

Happy Happy New Year!!

:-) Susan

I had subscribe to the LPM blog and had decided to do the memorizing also. Something I also have not been as consistant about as I should. Its nice to see others doing it also. Your Tuesdays together is a great idea. Unfortunately, I can't join in at this time. I teach a bible study on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Starting Jan 11th I will also be leading a group for hurting women on Sunday nites. I think I am going to have my hands full! Wish I could join in but I will be back to check in on your site. God Bless!

Beth's verse was great! I decided to add it down my list, because I already had my first 2 picked out! Looking forward to knowing Him more through his Word!

I love that verse - especially in the Amp. Several years ago, the Lord gave it to me for our "yearly" verse, and I printed the Amp version, framed it and put it in my bathroom where I can see it every morning. It's such a blessed reminder that He is our treasure - and that we are HIS!!!

Hey Dee Dee, I am interested in this, but I'm a little confused though...Tuesdays, Wednesdays. (?) Do I just check in on those days and join in with you in the study or is this something where we are online at the same time? You have probably already explained this somewhere but I have been multi-tasking and may just have missed it.

Thanks!
