TUESDAYS TOGETHER (in the WORD) ~~~~~January 20, 2009~~~~~

Welcome to TUESDAYS TOGETHER (in the WORD).Remember our goal/purpose is that we are reading God's Word and we are sharing with each other a "nugget" of what we are learning. Tuesdays we are together in the Word!

Here is the passage from this past week - that I want to share today.

Luke 12:22-32

22 And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.

23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!

25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and
tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!

29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried.

30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them.

31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

What a wonderful reminder in the light of the present economy.

We received the quarterly report from our Annuity this past week. Can I just say that it was not a pretty sight. All I could think was - if we have lost this much, just imagine what have the people who really have some money have lost in just 3 months?

So, a gentle reminder from our Lord - that he knows our needs. And if he will feed the birds and clothe the fields - how much more will he do for us?

Years ago, (in the days when I would sing a solo occasionally) I sang a song that came from part of this passage. Since I still am somewhat "foggy" headed from this past week's events - I think for today, I will just close with this.

Consider the Lilies, they don't toil nor spin, but there's not a King with more splendor than them. Consider the Sparrow, he don't plant nor sow, but he's fed by the Master who watches him grow.

We have a heavenly father above, with eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love, He really cares when your head is bowed low, Consider the lilies and then you will know.

May I introduce you to this friend of mine, who hangs out the stars and tells the sun when to shine. And kisses the flowers each morning with dew, but He's not to busy to care about you.

We have a heavenly father above, with eyes full of mercy and a heart full of love, He really cares when your head is bowed low, Consider the lilies and then you will know.

Consider the lilies and then you will know.

I am really looking forward to reading your comments and your blog posts this week.
